| 29/08/2007 - 29/09/2007 »» page 4/4 «« | ...continued from the previous page | 29. day - 26/09/2007 - The air and water hardly mooved in the moorning so we decided to go snorkeling. The water looked chrystal clear from the dinghy. There was a coral head next to the anchoring place where we saw many sting rays also the spotted eagle ray. We beleive these rays are feeded here by the locals because the rays always came after us (but not as close as in Moorea). Then we went to the so called Coral Garden between two motus on the southeastern part of the island. It was nice with many small fish. After
the snorkeling we decided to have some pick-nick on the shore but it was really difficult to find a nice place which did not belong any of the hotel resorts.
In the evening we went to see the show of the Hotel Bora Bora. It is possible to go in if you drink something in their bar and the drinks are just a little bit more expensive than in the shops. The water was lit under the dinghy dock so we could see the fish and also some sharks. around.
The show men arrived by canoes with torch. They were dancing, climbing on coconut trees, opening coconut with their bare hands and they made some shows with the torch. They also picked some guests to their show such as throwing spears, dancing or lifting heavy stones.
After 11 pm all the guests went to sleep only we remained on the peninsula with Yagoona and Hafskip. From tomorrow everyone goes on their own way again (decisions include: stopping at Maupiti, Cooks, Niue or going all the way along to Tonga which is still around 1,300 nautical miles to go). | 30. day - 27/09/2007 - This day was the birthday of the captain. I made some specialities from the Japaneese kitchen and a strawberry cake.. | 31. day - 28/09/2007 - The biggest town of Bora Bora is Vaitape. Vaitape is very touristic with many souvenir shops, pearl shops, ferry harbour with the tourist information.
We anchord nearly 1 hour dinghy ride far from the town. We packed the diesel cans and went to the town. We had a busy day by starting at the dentist then we went for diesel to the service station and finally we had to do the provisioning in the supermarket. We could get tax free diesel with our document from Tahiti.
We got our package in the evening we were waiting for it from Hungary. It arrived at the airport so we had to take the ferry there as it is on another small islets. The ferry was free and we had a nice view from it to the north part of the island and to the motus (islets). | 32. day - 29/09/2007 - Bye French Polynesia
We feel we have just arrive but now it is time to leave towards the other parts of the Pacific. Our next stop will be at Cook Islands.
We continue it soon. | | | |
