| Although we did not plan for early departure, the weather forecast showed a great opportunity to leave Fiji before the hurricane season. Strong wind warning was ceased at Fiji. We had only one and a half day to prepare the boat for departure. Just the usual stuff were purchased (fuel, water, food, gas cylinder filling , etc. ) . The propeller was quickly cleaned as well. We called the Vuda marina to send the papers for clearance and we sent the advanced arrival form to New Zealand authorities. We also reserved a buoy in the Denarau Marina for the last night to have a rest before our new challenges in the Pacific Ocean . The port was preparing for the coming festival of lights (Diwali) and the shop assistants were dressed in a sari. Fiji had a beautiful farewell sunset and a record heat of 35 degrees and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams book came to mind as a quote: So long, and thanks for all the fish ! |
